New Delhi: Microsoft has recently launched the October non-security preview update for Windows 11 version 24H2 and version 25H2 that will unveil the long-awaited latest Start Menu, which is going to include a more customizable layout, among other quality of life improvements. This update, known as KB5067036, is now available for users to get the latest updates as soon as they are available to toggle enabled in Windows update. Unfortunately, the latest Start Menu itself is rolling out in waves, which means not everyone will see it right away once the update is installed.
If the users choose to skip this latest update, the latest Start Menu is expected to roll out more generally with the next month’s Patch update, so it won’t be long before everyone has the latest Start Menu. Windows 11’s latest Start Menu has been rebuilt from the ground up with better customizability in mind. The layout is now more dynamic, which means users can choose to hide certain parts of the interface if they never use them. If the users don’t want to see pinned or recommended applications or files, they can turn them off.
The latest layout also promotes the all applications list to the main page, and gives users two additional views: grid list and category view. By default, the latest Start Menu sets users ‘ list of all applications to category view, which attempts to automatically group installed applications into buckets similar to the application shelf on iOS and iPadOS. This latest Start Menu is also more adaptive, means it will appear bigger on devices with larger screens, giving users the ability to show even pinned applications at once. It also includes improved recent notifications, missed calls, and text messages. This latest update also consists of improvements to the Taskbar, including animations for thumbnails when hovering over open application icons, and the newest battery icon that will support showing users’ battery percentage on the Taskbar.
