Microsoft Copilot bridges the gap with Google services integration

New Delhi: Microsoft Copilot is getting some new features for Windows users that will enable the AI assistant to link with the user’s personal and third-party cloud services. This rollout has begun for the Windows Insiders, marking a step toward making Copilot a more comprehensive tool for managing digital content. The core of this update lies in the ability to bridge data silos. Users can now optionally connect services like OneDrive, Outlook, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Gmail, and Google Contacts with the Copilot on Windows.

With these latest features of connections active, Copilot can respond to natural language queries by pulling relevant data from the linked services. Copilot will retrieve the necessary details from the connected Microsoft and Google accounts. This opt-in feature requires users to grant access through the Settings page within the Copilot Windows applications, specifically in the Connectors section. The update dramatically improves Copilot’s ability to create and export files. The application now supports document creation and export into various standard formats directly from the conversation. Users can prompt Copilot to generate Word Documents, Excel spreadsheets, PDFs, or PowerPoint presentations.

This latest and substantial update, under the version 1.25095.161.0 and higher, is being gradually pushed out through the Microsoft Store to all Insider Channels. Microsoft is utilising the Insider feedback process to refine these latest capabilities, ensuring the smooth and effective deployment for all Windows users eventually.
