New Delhi: Microsoft has recently introduced a new set of changes that improve how the upgrades are going to be delivered on Windows PCs, aiming mainly to offer users more control and reduce unexpected disruptions.
This latest upgrade will include options like shutting down or restarting devices without forcing upgrades, expanded pause controls, and clearer upgrade details. These upgrades have been shaped by user feedback, as they have been reviewed thousands of times before being implemented.
One of the major changes is the flexibility over when the upgrades take place. During the initial setup of the latest device, users now have the option to skip upgrades and go directly to the desktop by choosing to install them later.
Microsoft has also stated that if the updates are skipped, the latest features and security fixes will not be available until they are installed. With this latest option, it is built into the setup process, and users can also decide when to upgrade their devices.
Windows is also extending its pause feature; users can now pause upgrades for up to 35 days by using the calendar-based system and expand that pause multiple times if the user needs it. It might make it easier for the users to ignore the latest upgrades during their busy periods.
Microsoft has also said that if 35 days are not enough, users can extend the pause repeatedly. These upgrades can be paused again for up to 35 days each time, with no limit on how often users can take a pause.
Restart and shutdown options are now very clearly separated from the upgrade action. This actually means that the users can turn off or restart their PC without being forced into installing upgrades at that moment, while updating specific options to remain available separately.
Microsoft is also adding clearer information about the latest updates. All pending upgrades will appear under the single Available Updates section in settings, making it convenient to manage everything in one place, which makes it easier for users to navigate.
