MG Hector 2026 facelift unveiled: Price and features revealed

New Delhi: MG India has finally unveiled its new facelift for its first-generation Hector, which is priced from Rs 11.99 lakh ex-showroom. The Rs 2.1 lakh drop compared to the outgoing model, the updated 7-seater MG Hector Plus starts with the pricing at Rs 17.29 lakh, while pricing for the 6-seater version is yet to be announced by the company. MG has announced prices only for the petrol versions, with the latest MG Hector diesel price range set to be announced next year. The 2026 MG Hector will go up against the likes of the Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass, while the Hector Plus will compete with the upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO, Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari.

The size of the massive grille appears unchanged, but the latest honeycomb-like slats replace the diamond-shaped patterns, and the design of the air dam below has been revised. The 18-inch alloy wheels and the rear bumper are redesigned too, but the lights have been carried over, including the split headlamp setup and the LED lighting elements that will connect the taillamps on either end. Latest Celadon Blue and Pearl White shades have been added to the palette, joining Aurora Silver, Starry Black and Glaze Red, taking the total colour options to five.

The latest five-seat Hector gets a dual-tone Ice Grey interior, while the 6 and 7 seater Hector Plus comes with the dual-tone tan cabin. Additionally, the colour schemes, MG has updated the portrait style 14-inch touchscreen with its iSwipe touch gesture control technology, which enables the front passengers to adjust using two fingers and audio with three. Other features, such as the 7-inch driver’s display, front ventilated seats, 6-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, ambient lights, PM 2.5 air filter, push button start/stop system and a 360-degree camera, will continue to be offered.

Both the upgraded Hector and Hector Plus will be offering similar engine and gearbox options as their outgoing counterparts. The Hector petrol series comes with the 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine generating 143bhp and 250Nm, and is mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or CVT. The upcoming latest Hector diesel series is expected to carry over the 2.0-litre motor producing 170bhp and 350Nm, while the outgoing models were offered with the Fiat-sourced engine only with the manual gearbox. It remains to be seen if MG will unveil the automatic option.
