New Delhi: Meta has officially released its latest Facebook Verified, the latest free verification badge, which is specially designed to help users identify authentic people on the platform without requiring a subscription. Unlike Meta Verified, which is a paid service offering additional benefits, Facebook Verified aims solely to confirm that the real person is behind an account. Meta stated that the initiative is focused on combating the growing problem of AI-generated fake profiles, impersonation, scams, and fraudulent accounts.
As generative AI makes it easier to create convincing fake identities, Meta wants users to distinguish genuine individuals from fake ones quickly. Users can obtain the free badge by completing a selfie-based identity verification process. Meta also uses the selfie to confirm that the account belongs to a real person.
The user’s identity is being verified. The account meets Facebook’s authenticity requirements. The verification badge then appears across Facebook where the users interact with the profile.
Facebook stated that this feature is going to help users trust people they interact with in Marketplace. Avoid fake profiles in Groups. Identify genuine users in Facebook Dating. It will also reduce AI-driven identity fraud and scams. This latest Facebook Verified badge does not replace Meta Verified.
Meta Verified remains a paid subscription that offers enhanced account support and proactive impersonation protection. It also provides additional profile visibility and exclusive subscriber features. This free Facebook Verified badge is simply an authenticity indicator and does not include these premium benefits.
