Lu Weibing explains why Xiaomi competes only with Apple

New Delhi: We all know that recently Xiaomi’s President, Lu Weibing, has shared a post on his Weibo account, where he said that, “Five years ago, we embarked on our premium strategy, learning from our greatest competitor and resolutely benchmarking against iPhone. To this day, Apple continues to excel. The success of the iPhone 17 series is evident to everyone, but we remain confident, which is why we are directly competing with the iPhone in the same generation and at the same level.” After these words, finally, we have seen their latest Xiaomi 17 series, by skipping the 16 series. The main Reason to skip the 16 series was to compete directly with Apple’s latest iPhone 17 series.

There are many questions that are going to arise in users’ minds. The first question will be, “Why are they competing with the iPhone 17 series?” and the second question will be, “Why is Xiaomi not competing with the small rivals like Oppo, Vivo, and Realme?” These are two questions that will definitely arise in users’ minds. So firstly, we are going to answer the first question, “Why is Xiaomi competing with the iPhone 17 series?”. The Reason behind this, Xiaomi’s brand value is now down after their peak in the year 2021, where it was the only smartphone to get much market cap in India, because people are loved this brand, but after the other small rivals like OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Vivo, and much more, they are providing some higher specifications and the futuristic and straightforward design, by that users are attracted to that smartphone.

So, this might be the one Reason behind announcing an direct competition with the Apple, and if we look at the Xiaomi’s 17 series design which pretty much similar to the iPhone 17 Pro design, that rectangular shaped where iPhone offers triple camera setup, whereas Xiaomi has offered an secondary display, where users can perform their small tasking, like writing notes, capture photos, access to the gallery, and scrolling the reels.

Now, we are going to discuss the second question, which was, “Why Xiaomi directly picked iPhone, why not other small rivals like Oppo, Vivo, Realme, and other smartphone brands?”. The Reason behind it would be the presence, the users are not picking Xiaomi smartphone after the seeing other smartphone brand who are offering more good specifications, this might be one Reason, and the second would be, if users purchase their Xiaomi 17 series, then they will definitely compare this smartphone with the iPhone 17 series, so by that comparsion, Xiaomi will get into the users mind just for one time, that it was the first ever any smartphone has directly announced to compete with iPhone, there are many smartphone brand who are indirectly competing with the iPhone, but Xiaomi might be the first ever smartphone brand who’s President directly said to compete with iPhone 17 series. This is our point of view on this matter, which Xiaomi’s President announced before the launch of the Xiaomi 17 series. Suppose we discuss the OnePlus, Vivo, Oppo, and Realme, these smartphone brands are under the BBK Electronics, which is based in China. In that case, this company handles all of these smartphone brands. If we discuss market cap, it is around $919.7 billion, whereas Xiaomi’s market cap is around $182.8 billion. The difference is straightforward.
