New Delhi: As we all know, Apple is going to enter the foldable device segment with its most-awaited iPhone Fold that has been under development for years.
It should to arrive along with the iPhone 18 Pro series later this year. However, Apple has not confirmed its plans, and there are fresh inputs from China with the key design change aimed at the hinge.
Apple might use 3D printing technology to build the hinge mechanism of its foldable design. This move is expected to help reduce the visibility of the crease that forms on the foldable displays. The hinge plays a crucial role in how the screen bends and how notable the crease becomes over time.
Apple is not the latest to use 3D printing in its products. Apple has been reported to use similar manufacturing methods in parts like Apple Watch casings and components such as the USB Type-C port in the recent models.
Applying the process to the hinge might enable more control over the structure and precision. This layer fills the gap under the folding area by helping to reduce the crease effect on the display. Apple is been stated to be working on the display structure.
The device might also feature with a dual-layer glass setup by using UTG and UFG. The display sits between two layers of thin glass. This arrangement might prevent direct contact between the screen and the hinge when the phone folds, which might reduce stress on the panel over time.
