New Delhi: Apple’s first-ever thinnest yet, they have introduced for the users that is iPhone Air, may be more than design flex, with its 5.6mm frame and the 6.5-inch display, the Air signals Cupertino’s intent to show off engineering muscle ahead of what’s shaping up to be its most ambitious device in years. In some sources, it has suggests Apple is targeting a foldable that’s as thin as a regular slab phone feat even Samsung in only beginning to the perfect with its Galaxy Z Fold 7 which is measure when it unfolded it measured up at 4.2mm.
Apple seems to be borrowing a page from Samsung’s playbook. Before unveiling its slimmest foldables, Samsung introduced its first ultra-thin smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge, which measures at 5.8mm thick, effectively showing it could squeeze flagship hardware into the thinner frames. The move helped build credibility before the launch of its more compact foldables. Apple iPhone Air appears to be serving a similar purpose, a preview of just how thin its foldable could be.
Apple has already begun discussions with the suppliers about the test production in Taiwan, with the mass production in India under consideration. Still, Gurman maintains Foxconn in China will remain a key assembly partner. Speculation on the specifications is heating up; the foldable iPhone could feature a 7.8-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch outer screen, and even a crease-free panel. But now there are high chances that Apple could offer a teaser about their latest foldable before their iPhone 18 series or might do so together when they release the iPhone 18 series, possibilities are much for something big by Apple.
