iPhone Air 2 expected in fall 2026 as iPhone 17e enters mass production

New Delhi: We all know that earlier this year, Apple launched its iPhone Air; the device was the slimmest iPhone ever made and came with an impressive design. However, the Cupertino giant was reported to have pushed back the launch of its successor, following lower-than-expected sales. Now, there are many rumours that have emerged that the iPhone Air 2 may be back on track for a timely release. Apple is working on the next-generation iPhone Air, which may make its debut during the fall 2026 Apple event. If accurate, this would indicate the Cupertino giant is planning to launch the iPhone Air 2 along with the iPhone 18 Pro models and the foldable iPhone.

Previously, it was believed that the iPhone Air 2 may be pushed to spring 2027 release to accommodate some design changes, including a dual rear camera setup. This likely led to the joint launch of the next-generation iPhone Air, iPhone 17e, and the base iPhone 18. Apart from a significant upgrade on the camera front, the iPhone Air 2 is also rumoured to potentially get a price cut compared to the original iPhone Air. The iPhone Air was launched in India at Rs 1,19,900. The iPhone Air 2 is likely to come with the yet-to-be-announced A20 Pro chipset, which is also expected in the iPhone 18 Pro models.

Apple introduced the iPhone e series earlier this year with the iPhone 16e. This lineup provides the iPhone experience at a more affordable cost. Now, according to some of the sources, the iPhone 17e has entered mass production. This would put the device on the track for the spring 2026 release, likely in February, as was the case with the iPhone 16e. The iPhone 17e may get MagSafe support, a feature that was missing in its predecessor. The device is also expected to come with the new A19 chipset from the base iPhone 17. It is also stated to get slimmer bezels. The iPhone 17e may come with a similar price tag to the iPhone 16e, which was launched in India at Rs 59,900.
