New Delhi: Apple’s upcoming next-generation operating system upgrade for iPhones, iOS 27, may focus on performance improvements and stability rather than unveiling something entirely new like iOS 26 did with the Liquid Glass interface. iOS 27, Apple is targeting to tidy its codebase by updating the older applications and tweaking Liquid Glass, due to which the battery life of iPhones might improve. Apple also plans to achieve this by removing the scraps of old code, making minor interface tweaks without introducing major changes, and subtly updating the older applications to help them perform more efficiently.
Apple’s software in recent years might have observed more frequent bugs, occasional slowdowns, and inconsistent battery performance. Although the software stability was once a defining strength for Apple, this perceived decline has been reported to draw criticism. Apple engineers are also aiming to improve the power efficiency; the expectation is that streamlining the underlying code could deliver battery gains.
Apple has also been reported to have said that the revamped Siri is not delayed and it remains on track for release in 2026, countering promises that the upgrade had been pushed back. While some reports suggested that the improved AI assistant would debut with iOS 26.4, subsequent targets had shifted internally to later upgrades, such as iOS 26.5 or even iOS 27.
