This announcement, shared by Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, confirms that the rollout is underway and has been observed in the latest version of the application. This update aims to streamline content discovery and improve the overall user experience for Instagram’s growing Reels audience.

Instagram users in India and globally have long relied on workarounds, such as liking or sharing videos to themselves, to keep track of interesting Reels, but with the latest Watch History section, these methods may become a thing of the past. The feature is now available to many users, as reported by those who discovered it active in the updated Instagram application. This latest Watch History feature is specially designed to give users more control over their viewing experience. It enables them to revisit any Reels they have previously watched, which can be particularly useful for those who may have scrolled past a Reel and wish to find it again. Instagram’s approach mirrors similar history functions on other platforms, making it easier for people to keep track of the content they enjoy.

One of the most notable and highlighted standout elements of this latest update is the range of sorting and filtering options available. Adam Mosseri also stated that, “According to Mosseri, this section will enable the users to sort Reels by date watched or narrow it down to a specific date or a range of dates.” This flexibility is expected to help users navigate their Watch History, especially if they view large numbers of Reels daily.

Adam Mosseri further explained that Instagram will let users filter their watch history by the account that posted that Reel, which means users can quickly locate videos from specific content creators, enhancing the platform’s utility for those who follow multiple accounts. Such features are likely to be valuable for the users who rely on Instagram Reels for entertainment, education, or inspiration.
