New Delhi: Instagram has officially announced its new tap-to-pause Reels where one can pause videos by a single tap. The users were forced to press and hold the screen in order to stop the Reel. This is the most recent update that is aimed at streamlining the playback controls and the general viewing experience.
YouTube is also offering the same feature for its Shorts, where users can tap once to pause or play a video. The users can now pause a Reel with a single tap and tap again to resume playback.
Pausing should require pressing and holding the screen, which Instagram stated to many of the users to be less convenient and inconsistent.
Once the Reel is paused, the users will also see a Mute option, giving them more control over the audio while watching content. Instagram’s official creators account shared the update on Threads, stating that this gives the viewers more control and ensures they don’t miss moments from the content.
This new system will be smarter and easier to interact with, particularly with users who are interested in intermittent viewing and close perusing of the content without having to hold on to the screen. Tap-to-pause feature has begun to be implemented in the entire Instagram users.
It may not be universally accessible due to its version and region, yet it is likely to reach everybody eventually.
