Where farming is facing big challenges like, unpredictability is as common as the monsoon rains. Whether it’s the weather playing spoilsport or fluctuating crop yields, farmers have faced challenges for centuries. But a company called FarmERP is shaking things up with technology, making farming smarter, more sustainable, and, importantly, more profitable.
From Seed to Success
FarmERP was founded by two farmers’ sons, Sanjay Borkar and Santosh, who decided to tackle agriculture’s biggest problems head-on. With a vision to make farming more predictable and productive through technology, they set out on their journey. What began as a small, local initiative has now blossomed into a global venture serving over 30 countries. The result? A nearly threefold increase in revenue in just one year!
“We grew up seeing the struggles of farmers,” says Sanjay. “We wanted to find a way to make farming more reliable, like knowing the weather will behave, but without the stress of jugaad!”
Why does FarmERP focus so much on sustainability and climate resilience? Because, as Sanjay explains, we’re all aware of how the environment has a mood swing. From the unpredictable rains to the scorching summers, it’s no surprise that farming is tricky business. FarmERP’s goal is to help agribusinesses adapt to these changes, reduce their environmental footprint, and ensure food safety.
“We want to help farmers produce safe, nutritious food while protecting the environment and building resilience against climate change,” Sanjay says. In simple words, FarmERP is all about making sure agriculture doesn’t just survive, but thrives—even when Mother Nature throws a tantrum!
More Than Just a Fancy App
So, what makes FarmERP stand out in the crowd of agricultural tech? It’s not just another app—it’s a game-changer. The platform helps farmers make smart, data-driven decisions with tools that automate key farming processes. From accounting and inventory management to AI-driven labor management and governance dashboards, FarmERP is like the “savings account” of farming, helping businesses grow with better decision-making.
FarmERP’s AI-powered model, FarmGyan, acts like a personal advisor, giving real-time tips to farmers to keep their crops happy. It’s like having a tech-savvy farming uncle who knows exactly when to plant, water, and harvest!
From Uganda to the UAE
While India has seen the power of FarmERP, it’s making waves globally too. For instance, in East Africa, FarmERP helped a vegetable exporter break into the UK and European markets, thanks to an innovative air freight solution. The success was so big, it practically had #MadeInEastAfrica trending!
In the UAE, FarmERP transformed the entire farm-to-fork supply chain for an Agri-tech company, teaming up with 2,000+ farmers for seamless supply chain operations. In the Ivory Coast, FarmERP helped farmers trace bananas destined for Europe—talk about having traceable fruits! And in the MENA region, FarmERP supported a growing agribusiness in cultivating premium leafy greens and herbs year-round. Looks like FarmERP is going from #FarmingLife to #GlobalAgriInfluencer!
For Every Stakeholder, Farmers, Financiers, and the Government
FarmERP’s platform is designed to work for everyone in the agricultural ecosystem. For farmers, it’s like a Swiss Army knife—offering tools for better productivity, sustainability, and real-time advice. Contract farming companies love it because it brings transparency and streamlines operations. Financial institutions use it to assess risks and manage loans based on real-time data, while government bodies rely on FarmERP’s dashboards to monitor policies and initiatives.
“We wanted to make sure the whole agricultural chain benefits, from the soil to the boardroom,” says Sanjay with a wink.
What’s Next for FarmERP?
The company isn’t stopping anytime soon. With plans to expand aggressively into the MENA region, FarmERP is eyeing markets in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar, aiming for another threefold increase in revenue. And with new offices popping up in Middle East and the USA, it looks like FarmERP’s global footprint is about to get a lot bigger!
“We’ve got exciting things ahead, including a brand-new office in the Middle East to bring more people on board,” says Sanjay. “We’ll also be improving our platform with smarter AI-based recommendations, and more intuitive user interfaces. Think of it like upgrading from a regular scooter to a sports bike!”
Advice for Future AgTech Entrepreneurs
Sanjay has some great advice for anyone looking to jump into the AgTech world. “AgTech is booming, and there’s a lot of opportunity. But don’t just rush in with fancy technology. Spend time understanding what farmers really need, and then focus on solutions that will help them, not overwhelm them. Build partnerships, be adaptable, and remember that technology should make life easier, not harder!”
And, of course, stay data-driven. Because in today’s world, numbers speak louder than words—and they can save you from a bad harvest!
As Sanjay says, “If agriculture were a Bollywood movie, FarmERP would be the hero—making farming smarter, cooler, and way more profitable!”
