New Delhi: X has officially release its latest feature called as Custom Timelines which enables the users to pin specific topics directly to their home feed. This feature uses Grok AI to curate posts based on selected interests. This feature offers users more control over what they going to see on the platform by aiming on topics they care about.
And it now rolling out in early access to Premium subscribers on iOS, with the Android support expected soon. This upgrade also marks a shift in how the content is been organized on X, by moving towards more personalized and topic-based feeds instead of single mixed timeline.
Custom Timelines let the users to choose and pin topics to their home tab, by making it more easier to follow specific interests. This feature now supports more than 75 topics, by enabling the users to explore niche areas such as sports, technology or entertainment in more aimed way.
Rather than of scrolling via general feed, users can switch timeline dedicated to the single topic. It means posts shown in that timeline will going to be filtered and prioritised based on the selected interest.
It analyzes posts across the platform and it combines that with X’s recommendation system. This actually helps to create to personalized timeline tailored to each of the users activity and preferences. This system is been expecte to work better for topics that the users already interact with, as it can use past behavior to refine the recommendations forward.
This approach is now similar to how the algorithm-based feeds work, but with more user control over the subject.
Custom Timelines is currently available only to the Premium subscribers on iOS. It support for Android users will going to be add soon. Custom Timelines is been expected to extend to more users over time as X gathers feedback and refines the feature.
