New Delhi: NotebookLM has been replaced by Google’s newly named Gemini notebook, another component of the expanding Gemini ecosystem. The name has been changed, but its functionality is still quite self-contained, providing users with more effective and efficient research, study, and organization tools. Google’s goal with the new name is to ensure that Gemini Notebook performs more seamlessly with its other Gemini projects and the Google Search experience. The company believes the tool will remain its dedicated research and learning AI assistant, yet will provide a deeper connection to the company’s AI products.
The book’s greatest changes are the ability to share a secure Private Cloud Little Computer with each notebook. It’s with this that Gemini Notebook can write and run code without the need to open a separate tab or file while in the notebook, allowing users to do more advanced data analysis with their uploaded documents and sources. Currently on Google AI Ultra and for eligible Google Workspace business users, the feature will be rolling out to Google AI Pro users on the web in the following weeks.
Google is also tweaking the interaction of the main Gemini app to support Gemini Notebook. Your user can now access and share their notebooks on both platforms so that they can better continue their research on other devices or apps. Also, text written within Gemini Notebook can be used as reference text with the Gemini chatbot for responding to queries. Google has also announced that notebooks will be incorporated into the AI Mode in Google Search, enabling people to make their research efforts more accessible while searching the web.
Google states that there is no plan to change anything for current users, even though it’s being rebranded. Users will be able to log in to all of their previous notebooks, notes, and saved content and maintain a previously used service. The company stated that Gemini Notebook won’t be available on the existing Gemini chatbot, but will be a separate offering geared towards document analysis, note-taking, and research.
The first time it was introduced in 2023, it was an experimental AI Research Assistant called NotebookLM. It’s matured into a popular student, researcher, professional, and business resource, in part for its innovative features such as AI Documentation Analysis, Audio Overviews, and more. Google reports that 30 million users and 600,000 organizations around the world are using the platform. Drawing on Google’s firm intention to improve users’ ability to research, learn, and work more productively, the re-branded Gemini Notebook with new, AI-powered features is crucial for increasing the platform’s role in the broader Google AI universe.
