New Delhi: Google has officially started teasing its upcoming Google Pixel Watch 5 ahead of its official debut on August 12, 2026, along with the Pixel 11 series. This teaser specifically notes the watch’s traditional circular module. However, this teaser mocks the more rectangular and squircle-shaped designs associated with competitor smartwatches. Google’s message is essentially that the Pixel Watch 5 has the decency to look like a watch by positioning its circular design as the key differentiator.
It is reported to comes in two sizes options: 41mm and 45mm, with Wi-Fi and LTE variants. It is reported to include color combinations such as Dark Anthracite, Natural Silver, Pyrite, and Warm Gold. Google Play Console listing reportedly points to the Qualcomm SW5100 platform, indicating Google might reuse the same basic chip platform seen in earlier Pixel Watch generations instead of unveiling a major processor upgrade.
A similar leak points to 3GB RAM and up from 2GB on earlier models. This might be particularly important for Google’s push toward on-device embedded Gemini AI features. Google is also positioning AI as an important part of its wearable strategy. It suggested that the Pixel Watch 5 could integrate Gemini more deeply, which might explain the additional RAM. The official teaser also emphasizes health and fitness capabilities. Promotional material is highlighting the watch’s health and fitness tracking capabilities instead of aiming only at design.
However, the real story isn’t simply Pixel Watch 5 launches in India. The stronger angle is Google’s deliberate attack on competing smartwatch designs. It appears to be turning the circular watch face vs squircle/rectangular design debate into a marketing point. Samsung’s newer Galaxy Watch generation has also moved toward a squarer design direction, while Apple has long used its rectangular Watch design.
