Google Pixel Watch 5 officially launches with Gemini Intelligence and new health features

New Delhi: Google has officially introduced its latest and most anticipated Pixel Watch 5, which is now more than a minor hardware refresh; the main aim is Gemini-powered assistance, deeper health tracking, and improved fitness features. It is available in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm. It features an Actua 360 OLED with up to 3,000nits of peak brightness, and is protected by custom 3D Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated platform with the Cortex-M55 co-processor.

It comes with Wear OS 7 with deeper Gemini integration. It also comes with 64GB of onboard storage. Google also claims up to 30 hours on the 41mm model and up to 40 hours on the 45mm model with always-on display. Battery saver expands this to 48 and 72 hours, respectively. Dual-frequency GPS with AI-assisted improvements, which is specially designed to make location tracking more accurate, particularly during workouts.

The company has positioned the Pixel Watch 5 as a more proactive AI companion instead of simply a smartwatch with a voice assistant. Gemini can offer context-aware assistance, help with daily tasks, and provide suggestions based on information available on the watch. Several AI functions can also work offline, by reducing reliance on the device or a constant internet connection.

Blood-Pressure trends: The watch can monitor changes and trends instead of simply presenting a single measurement.

Insulin-resistance trends: Google is unveiling tracking intended to identify longer-term metabolic patterns.

Breathing Emergency Detection: The watch can detect potentially dangerous changes in blood oxygen and can alert emergency services in critical situations.

Google also retains features such as heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, fitness tracking, and safety functions. Blood-pressure and insulin-resistance features should be described as wellness/trend indicators, not medical diagnoses. Several of these capabilities are scheduled to become available in September.

Pixel Watch 5 also uses AI to make fitness tracking more useful. Google is also adding AI-generated strength-training plans, while the improved GPS processing is intended to offer more reliable workout tracking. The company is also developing toward an AI health coach, which might eventually use the users’ longer-term activity, sleep, and health trends to offer more personalized recommendations. Pixel Watch 5 starts at around $399 in the US; however, several Indian reports suggested that it might start at roughly Rs 42,990. Pre-orders have started, with the general debut scheduled for August 20, 2026.
