New Delhi: Google has recently introduced its latest feature in Google Photos that now uses AI to turn users’ existing image library into a digital wardrobe for them. This application will use AI to scan users’ existing images, identify the clothes they have worn, and organize them into a virtual closet.
This idea will help the users quickly see what they already have, mix and match outfits, and even preview how the combinations might look without opening their physical wardrobe. This feature is expected to roll out in phases, starting this summer on Android devices.
This feature relies on the AI to automatically detect the clothing items in images stored in Google Photos and group them into a dedicated wardrobe collection. Rather than manually uploading or tagging the items, the system builds this collection from the users’ past images, offering them a visual inventory of their clothes. Outfits users might have forgotten about, or rarely used pieces, can resurface.
After the wardrobe is created, users can also organize it further by using filters. This enables a more structured view of clothing, similar to the browser sections in retail applications, but based entirely on what users already have.
Those outfit combinations can be saved in moodboards, which can be organized by themes such as travel, workwear, or events like weddings. This option to share these outfit ideas with friends is also included, by adding the social element to the experience.
The company is also unveiling a virtual try-on option, with this, users can also select clothing items and preview how an outfit might look on them before actually wearing them. This might help in planning outfits.
