Google Fitbit Air receives BIS certification ahead of expected India debut

New Delhi: Google’s recently launched Fitbit Air might soon make its way to India, marking the shift from the display-powered devices that have long defined the Fitbit series. This latest Fitbit Air model is specially designed for users who want distraction-free workouts. Fitbit Air has surfaced on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification database. However, there is no official announcement from Google yet, but the BIS listing strongly indicates the wearable might make its India debut soon.

Fitness bands rely on screens for notifications, workout stats, and health metrics; the Fitbit Air takes the minimalist approach. This device might do away with both display and physical buttons, instead using subtle haptic feedback for alerts. Users can access the health insights, activity data, and coaching features via the Google Health application by positioning the tracker as a more passive and distraction-free wearable.

Fitbit Air supports 24/7 heart-rate monitoring, heart rhythm tracking with the atrial fibrillation alerts, blood oxygen monitoring, by resting the heart rate measurements, and heart-rate variability tracking. Battery life is rated at up to seven days on a single charge. Fast charging support can deliver enough power for a full day’s use in around five minutes. Tracker features polycarbonate construction, 50-meter water resistance, and a small status indicator light.

Fitness tracker comes in breathable Performance loop, sweat-resistant Active Band, and the Elevated Modern Band, specially designed for everyday wear. However, the Fitbit Air is priced at $99.99 (roughly Rs 9,500), whereas the Stephen Curry edition is priced at $129.99 (roughly Rs 12,300).
