Google Docs on Android gets smarter with Gemini-powered summarization tool

New Delhi: With AI being a primary focus for most companies, users can expect to see brands incorporating elements of the technology wherever possible. The same applies to Google, which has invested a significant amount of time, energy, and resources in trying to get its AI model, Gemini, in front of as many eyes as possible through its products and services.

Google is on another level, with a vast portfolio of software and hardware, making it harder to keep things in order when it comes to Gemini’s availability. So, while users might see Gemini available on Google’s web products, it might not yet be available on its Android counterparts.

Google is pleased to announce that Gemini is now available in Google Docs on Android. Not only will this be available in English, but Google is also rolling out the features in over 20 languages, making it a somewhat global release. Users will now be able to get instant summaries for any documents on Docs.

They previously saw this feature launch outside of Android back in March 2025. So, suppose users have a document with a lot of complex topics or need something summarised into a short piece of text. In that case, Gemini will now be able to handle that for users without requiring them to copy and paste the source material.

To take things further, users will also be able to ask questions about the content, making it easy to find what users are looking for. This feature has now started rolling out to Rapid Release domains, and it will be released to scheduled domains on July 2, 2025.

Regarding availability, the Google account must be on a business plan, such as Enterprise Standard or Plus. Those with a Gemini Education and Education Premium account will also have access. There is no need to take any action with the user’s application; users should see the feature appear when they have this access.
