Xbox Mode arrives in Windows 11 Insider Canary build by Microsoft

New Delhi: Microsoft has started rolling out its Xbox Full Screen Experience, which is now referred to as the Xbox mode in the Windows Insider upgrade for Windows 11 PCs. Xbox Mode is now live in the Canary channel for Windows 11 PCs, including laptops, desktops, and tablets. Eligible users will be able to make use of the Xbox mode from the Xbox application, Game Bar settings, or by pressing Windows key + F11.

In March, Microsoft announced that it would going to begin rolling out Xbox mode to Windows 11 PCs starting in April. Some reports also align with the announcement, and the company might soon release the stable upgrade for the same.

Game Developer Conference 2026 highlights that the interface will first arrive in selected markets before extending more broadly.

Xbox mode interface on Windows PCs is built to deliver a full-screen, controller-friendly experience for accessing and managing games on Windows 11. It adds the console-style layer over the operating system, enabling users to browse and unveil titles without depending on keyboard or mouse.

This device boots straight into the Xbox interface, while still running Windows 11 in the background.

The UI closely mirrors the Xbox console layout by offering quick access to user profiles, Game Pass libraries, installed games, and the Xbox Store. It also supports titles from other platforms such as Steam, Epic Games Store, and EA Play within the same library.

Users can switch back to a standard Windows desktop when needed, allowing a mix of productivity and gaming. The feature is specially designed to let users move between work and play seamlessly while retaining the flexibility of Windows.

Interface places a strong emphasis on the controller-based navigation by making it more easier to handle game libraries, settings, and downloads without traditional desktop menus. The company is also expanding its Xbox Play Anywhere program, which enables users to purchase a game once and access it across both Xbox consoles and Windows PCs.
