Rockstar delays GTA 6 once more, extending the longest wait in gaming

New Delhi: So, GTA 6 fans, one more heartbreak for you, Rockstar Games has officially announced that GTA 6 is going to be delayed one more time. Users wanted to wait a little longer to play this Grand Theft Auto 6 on any of their consoles. On the X platform, Rockstar Games has officially written that they have moved their release date from May to November 19, 2026. This announcement came during the parent company Take-Two Interactive’s quarterly earnings report, making the second significant delay for the highly anticipated open-world title. Initially slated for a 2025 debut, GTA 6 has now spent over a decade in development, making it one of the most awaited games in modern history.

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, did not provide a specific reason for the postponement but emphasised the studio’s commitment to delivering an exceptional product. They remain both excited and confident that they will offer an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience. Rockstar Games believes a limited amount of additional time is required for polish. Rockstar echoed that sentiment in a statement posted on X, “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

This delay follows recent layoffs at Rockstar’s UK Studio, though Take-Two Interactive has stated the two matters are entirely separate. The studio maintains that the terminated employees have violated company policies by sharing confidential information. Despite the setback, anticipation for the GTA 6 remains sky-high. The game will take players to the sprawling state of Leonida, featuring the modern-day reimaging of Vice City. Industry analysts predict it could become the fastest-selling entertainment product in history once released.
