New Delhi: Amazon’s Fire TV devices have now relied on the Android-based software for years, but the tech giant has recently introduced significant changes to the streaming device’s functionality. Amazon has also launched its in-house operating system, Vega, for Fire TV devices, which are now going to replace Android. The latest Fire TV Stick 4K Select will be the first device to run on the Vega OS. It’s going to bring advanced streaming capabilities and a wide range of features. While the company did not list the detailed features, it is stated to be much faster and more reliable than previous versions of the Fire TV OS, which was based on Android.
Meanwhile, Amazon teases its latest Vega OS, which is said to deliver vibrant 4K picture quality with HDR10+ support and applications that launch remarkably fast. Vega OS is revealed to offer several streaming services, including Prime Video, Disney+, Netflix, YouTube, Apple Luna, and Alexa+. Further, it has been shown that the 4K Select will feature 1GB of RAM, showcasing the platform’s lightweight capabilities. The Vega OS UI looks very similar to the Fire OS, but the latest Alexa+ integration may add a bright touch to the devices.
Its downside is that it will only support the applications downloaded from the Amazon Appstore, and it will not support sideloading on Android. As for the present, the latest Fire TV devices and the Fire TV Stick 4K Select are now available for pre-order in the United States. It is still unclear if these products will make an Indian debut, but this latest Fire TV Stick 4K Select is going to be priced at $39.99 in the United States. If this Fire TV Stick 4K Select makes its debut in India, then it is priced at Rs 3,600 or higher, which will actually help us know when it will launch in India.
