New Delhi: iPhone 11 was released back in 2019. It’s been seven years. By the standard of phone years, it’s ancient. So, the big question is, if it still makes sense to a Gen Z user in 2026?
The simple answer is it’s based on the phone’s purpose.
Why it still holds up
The iPhone 11 is powered by Apple’s A13 chip, and it’s still a viable chip. Keeping up with Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp and a light game is no trouble for it. With Apple’s great A13 Bionic chipset, the super-advanced iOS software and great camera the iPhone 11 remains a great choice.

Another great feature is its price. The fact it’s significantly more affordable than newer models also means it’s a great bet for first time iPhone owners or those on a budget. That’s a big bonus for anyone, or student, who is mindful of their finances.
Where it falls short
That’s where things get complicated for Gen Z, who are accustomed to instant access to the internet, no matter the context. The iPhone 11 doesn’t support 5G. This will be an aggravation if you’re a heavy streamer, heavy downloader, or don’t like to buffer your way through large files.
Another disappointment is the screen: It features an older LCD screen rather than sharp OLED screens which are used in newer iPhones. For day-to-day use, the tela LCD [screen] is fine, but it’s not as crisp as the OLED screens of Apple’s latest devices. To avoid this, colours will not look as vibrant, dark scenes won’t appear as dark.
Then of course, there’s the AI issue. The latest phones from Apple are equipped with a number of on-device AI capabilities. Most of that unfortunately isn’t supported by the iPhone 11, leaving out those looking for the latest and greatest smart thingy.
Also noteworthy is battery. Due to being so many years old now, most phones will have some battery wear. This may require an alternative to get through an entire day comfortably.
So, does it make sense?
If you are a Gen Z buyer looking for a phone that’s capable of social media, texting, calls, and simple photos, and have a limited budget, the iPhone 11 will be a sensible and budget-friendly choice. The software support for five to seven years is not only included, but the A-sort chips are some of the most powerful on the market.
If you’re interested in 5G speed, a brighter OLED screen or any of Apple’s latest AI features, however, will need to consider a newer model.
The bottom line: The iPhone 11 is not junk. It’s simply a phone that respects its boundaries and a lot of young customers just want to stick with that.
