New Delhi: Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas has cautioned users against misusing the company’s month-old Comet AI browser, and after this development, users have used it to automatically complete the online course. On the X platform, a user named Amrit Nigam, who is a web developer, shows that Comet AI answer the questions and finishes the Coursera course titled AI Ethics, responsibility and the creativity. He also proudly wrote that they just completed the Coursera course, tagging the CEO of Perplexity for Comet AI.
After posting this on X, Aravind Srinivas quickly replied to step in, “Absolutely don’t do this.” His comment quickly went viral, sparking a wave of reactions online. Any other users wrote that it’s either Perplexity limits this, or people will continue to do it. Telling someone not to do this is just shouting into the void. Others admitted that many students use Comet to get through weekly quizzes, assignments, and mundane stuff.
Comet AI, launched in July, Perplexity’s latest browser that aims to make web browsing more innovative and more interactive, became free for everyone in October. The browser can summarise web pages, conduct research, write emails, fill out forms, and it will handle tasks like booking hotels through simple commands. It also remembers users’ tabs and browsing habits to offer a more personalised experience. Comet currently runs on Windows and macOS, with the mobile version featuring voice commands on the way.
