BGMI publisher Krafton to invest ₹6,000 Crore in Indian Tech firms

New Delhi: BGMI (Battleground Mobile India) developer Krafton has recently announced and unveiled its latest India-focused fund worth up to Rs 6,000 crore in partnership with Naver and Mirae Asset. This fund will aim to lead technology companies across Asia, with India at the centre of its investment strategy. The Krafton-Naver-MiraeAsset Unicorn Growth Investment Fund is set to begin operations in January next year with an initial size of over Rs 3,000 crore. Krafton will contribute Rs 1,230 crores as its initial investment, with the remaining funds coming from its partners and external investors. Mirae Asset Venture India will manage the funds.

The latest fund aims to invest in India’s fast-growing tech sectors, including AI, fintech, content, logistics, consumer goods, sports, media, and healthcare. This marks Krafton’s expansion beyond the gaming industry, building on its cumulative investment of over USD 200 million in India’s digital entertainment market. Krafton India CEO Sean (Hyunil) Sohn stated, “Our participation in this fund aims to discover sustainable businesses in India that create social and economic value in addition to gaming. BY exploring investment opportunities in various sectors such as consumer goods, sports, media, and healthcare, we plan to position ourselves as a brand trusted by its people.”

This represents the first-ever collaboration between Krafton, Naver, and Mirae Asset in India, by bringing together three leading Korean companies in a unified strategic alliance. The partnership combines Krafton’s local market experience, Naver’s expertise in platform and content businesses, and Mirae Asset’s capital management capabilities and strong network in India. President of Naver Tech Business, Choi In-hyuk, said, “Leveraging Naver’s platform, content, and AI capabilities, we aim to jointly support the discovery of innovative Indian companies and contribute to the expansion of the local technology ecosystem.” The fund reinforces India’s position as a critical market in Krafton’s long-term growth strategy, complementing its existing initiatives, such as the Krafton India Gaming Incubator.
