KTM 390 Adventure R promises rally DNA for Indian riders

New Delhi: KTM India has recently teased that it will unveil its latest KTM 390 Adventure R in January 2026 due to popular demand. Booking for the adventure bike will commence in a few days, with the deliveries expected to start from early January 2026. The KTM 390 Adventure R is a hardcore off-road-oriented variant, aimed at enthusiasts wanting an ADV with good off-road manners and touring capabilities. The KTM 390 Adventure R gets 230mm wheel travel at both ends. For perspective, the KTM 390 Adventure has wheel travel of 200mm at the front and 205mm at the rear.

Another key difference is the wheel sizes; the R variant will come with the upgraded 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheel setup, which will offer better off-road performance. The S variant has a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear tubeless spoke wheel setup. Ground clearance on the Adventure R is also higher, coming in at 272mm. The 390 Adventure S, on the other hand, has ground clearance of 237mm. Lastly, the KTM 390 Adventure R is also 6kg lighter, with a kerb weight of 176kg.

Aside from the previously mentioned changes, the R variant remains essentially the same as the S, both are powered by a 398.6cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 45.3bhp and 39Nm. The brand might use a similar strategy as they did with the Enduro and Enduro R. The international specification Enduro R was launched at a Rs 20,000 premium over the Enduro so that users can expect something similar here. The KTM 390 Adventure is currently priced at Rs 3.95 lakh ex-showroom.
