New Delhi: BMW is set to bring its latest M440i xDrive Convertible to the Indian market next year, with the Z4 on its way out globally with no immediate successor planned, the M440i Convertible will entrée the scene in 2026 and cater to prospective BMW drop-top buyers in India. The M440i Convertible is expected to be based on the BMW 4 Series Coupe, and it might feature identical styling elements, save for the folding fabric roof that takes 18 seconds to open or close at speeds of up to 50kph. The M440i Convertible gets slim LED headlights with the diagonal DRL signatures flanking large kidney grilles, along with the sizable air intakes on either side of the bumper.
The 19-inch alloy wheels, M badging on the fenders and wind deflectors aft of the front seats characterise the M440i Convertible’s side profile, while at the rear, the drop-top prominently features sleek LED tail-lamps, an integrated bootlid spoiler and muscular rear diffuser. The M440i Convertible can seat up to 4 occupants and sports a neat and uncluttered dashboard layout. A 14.9-inch curved infotainment touchscreen takes centre stage, with digital driver’s display and three-spoke flat-bottomed M-spec steering wheel to the right.
The M440i Convertible also packs in features like a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless charging pad, heads-up display, tyre pressure monitoring system, powered sports seats with memory function, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and much more. M440i Convertible comes equipped with the same B58 3.0-litre turbo straight six as the BMW M340i sedan, outputting 374bhp and 500Nm. This powerplant is hooked up to an 8-speed automatic gearbox that funnels power to all four wheels, enabling the M440i Convertible to dispatch the 0-100kph run in claimed 4.9 seconds onwards to an electronically limited top speed of 250kph.
BMW has plans to launch the M440i Convertible in India by mid-2026, with the pricing expected to land in the Rs 1.1 crore ballpark. To that end, the M440i Convertible will directly rival the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet, which is priced at Rs 1.12 crore.
