New Delhi: Apple is preparing to unveil its Watch Ultra 4 later this year. Apple might release the successor to the Watch Ultra 3, which was released in September last year, with an increased number of sensor components, design changes, and increased power efficiency.
It is likely to be introduced in September this year, along with the iPhone 18 Pro models and Apple’s maiden foldable iPhone. This year’s Apple Watch Ultra 4 is expected to come with a significant increase in sensor components, potentially doubling the number used in the current model.
By expanding the hardware-based sensing capabilities would to reduce Apple’s reliance on algorithm-driven data estimation, which could translate into more precise health metrics, better overall system performance, and improved battery efficiency. Integrating blood glucose monitoring into the Apple Watch lineup has reported to be positive, but the feature is not expected to arrive with the Watch Ultra 4 this year.
Apple Watch Ultra 4 will going to see major changes to its external design, though details remain unclear. Some early rumours have pointed to a major redesign potentially tied to Apple’s previously planned mark to microLED display technology that could have enabled a larger chassis.
More recent suggestions have been that the visual changes might be more modest. Apple’s long-standing internal codename for Touch ID, in connection with the 2026 Apple Watch models. The exact hardware implementation which is unknown; Touch ID could going to be integrated into the side button, Digital Crown, or Action Button, by reducing the need for passcode entry and streamlining Apple Pay authentication.
The power efficiency is expected to improve significantly on the Watch Ultra 4, potentially due to the latest S-series chip and the updated sensor array by building on the battery life gains first introduced with the Apple Watch Ultra 3.
