New Delhi: Apple has officially introduced its latest software updates will includes: iOS 16.7.15, iOS 15.8.7, iPadOS 16.7.15 and iPadOS 15.8.7 for its older models like iPhones, iPads and iPods that are no longer of the eligible for the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS.
This latest updates has primarily include the security patches which aimed at fixing the vulnerabilities that could affect the devices running the older operating systems. Apple has also initially described the updates as containing important security fixes but later it has confirmed that they address vulnerabilities associated with the Coruna exploit disclosed last week buy the Google and security firm iVerify.
One of the vulnerabilities could enables the malicious applications to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Another set of the issues which involved WebKit, where the processing specially crafted web content could lead to arbitrary code execution or memory corruption.
Apple has also stated that some of these fixes were previously been included in newer iOS version but are now being expanded to devices that cannot upgrade to the latest operating systems.
Which Older iPhone, iPad and iPod are getting this update:
- iPhone X
- iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

- iPod touch (7th generation)
Now there will be some of the users who don’t know about Coruna, so basically it is an exploit kit that claims multiple vulnerabilities together to aim iPhone running older iOS versions. The framework reported to combines five exploit chains and 23 individual vulnerabilities to compromise devices running iOS 12 through iOS 17.2.1.
The attach also typically begins when the users visits compromised website that runs hidden JavaScript to detect device details such as model system version and security configuration.
Once the device has been identified as vulnerable, the exploit can bypass the several layer of iOS security protections and gain higher system privileges. Attackers could then install malware capable of collecting data or downloading additional malicious modules.
