New Delhi: Apple has recently reported that they have delayed the unveiling of its latest Apple TV 4K due to a planned Siri update. Apple has largely completed the latest hardware but is now delaying the unveil to align it with a more advanced conversational version of Siri, which has been expected to be released in iOS 27.
Apple is also experimenting with HomePod 3, HomePod mini 2, and a smart display, which is often referred to as HomePod Touch. These devices are already in the later stages of manufacturing, but are also being held back until the upgraded version of Siri is ready to unveil.
However, the Siri update has been seen with multiple delays over the past year. These latest AI-powered features were first shown at WWDC 2024, and they were initially expected to roll out by March 2025. The release window was then pushed to around iOS 26.4 in 2026.
The rollout has been delayed again, with the latest features expected in iOS 27. Apple is also working with Google and plans to use its Gemini AI models to power parts of the upgraded Siri experience.
The major expected changes in the latest Apple TV 4K streamer will be its processor. This device is expected to move from the A15 chip to the latest A-series chip, which is expected to be the A17 Pro chip. It brings a significant boost in graphics and overall performance by including support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
Such updates could push Apple TV closer to console-level gaming capabilities, something Apple has been gradually building towards. Apple is also expected to retain the compact, fanless form factor. There might be smaller additions, such as improved codec support like AV1, for a better streaming experience.
