New Delhi: Apple has started to rolling out its latest set of health-aimed features for its wearable devices in India. This upgrade also now includes the sleep apnea notifications on the compatible Apple Watch models and a clinically validated Hearing Test feature on the supported AirPods Pro models.
These capabilities were first unveiled by Apple in 2024, but they were limited to select markets. Apple has now started to roll out these features to more regions, including India.
This feature is generally based on the latest metric called Breathing Disturbances, which also uses the watch’s accelerometer to detect subtle wrist movements associated with irregular breathing patterns during sleep. Over a 30-day period, this system also analyzes this data and notifies users if it detects consistent signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea.
This feature is intended to help users identify potential issues early and seek medical consultation. Users can also export a detailed PDF report that includes three months of breathing disturbance data to share with healthcare providers.
Supported models are: Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and Apple Watch SE 3. It requires the latest version of watchOS; update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS. Sleep must be set up with Track Sleep with the Apple Watch turned on.
Users must wear their Apple Watch to sleep for a minimum of 10 nights over a 30-day period. Their data will be analyzed every 30 days. Apple has also unveiled the Hearing Test feature for compatible AirPods Pro models in India.
