Apple expands MacBook family with M5 Air and upgraded Pro variants

New Delhi: Apple has officially debut with its most-awaited latest MacBook Air, which is powered by its M5 Pro and M5 Max, along with the upgraded 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. The refreshed series brings performance updates, higher starting storage, Wi-Fi 7 support, and upgraded connectivity across both consumer and professional segments.

The standard M5 version of the MacBook Pro debuted last year, and it is already available. Apple has now expanded the range with the more powerful Pro and Max variants. Sales will start from March 11 in select markets.

Now, let’s discuss the pricing 13-inch variant is priced at Rs 1,19,900, and the 15-inch is priced at Rs 1,44,900. It is available in four colour options: Sky Blue, Silver, Starlight, and Midnight. And now let’s discuss the pricing of the M5 Pro and Max chip MacBook Pro.

It also features a 10-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. Apple stated that the chip includes Neural Accelerator in each GPU core and delivers improved AI processing compared to the previous generations. The M5-powered MacBook Air offers up to 9.5 times faster AI performance compared to M1-based models, alongside gains in 3D rendering, video processing, and multitasking. Unified memory bandwidth increased to 153 GB/s, which Apple stated would improve responsiveness in demanding workloads.

Apple has also stated that the latest SSD offers up to twice the read and write speeds compared to the prior generations. Connectivity is upgraded with Apple’s N1 wireless chip, bringing support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. This laptop also continues to feature two Thunderbolt 4 ports and support for up to two external displays.

The design also remains largely unchanged, with 13-inch and 15-inch Liquid Retina display options, a 12MP Center Stage camera, a fanless chassis, and claimed battery life up to 18 hours. It is built using Apple’s Fusion Architecture and features up to an 18-core CPU.

It includes next-generation GPU architecture with Neural Accelerator in each core, aimed at improving the AI and graphics performance. These latest MacBook Pro models retain the Liquid Retina XDR display, with an optional nano-texture finish.

It has three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI with support for up to 8K output, an SDXC card slot, and MagSafe 3 charging. The battery is rated at up to 24 hours, depending on the configuration and usage.
