New Delhi: Apple is now preparing to introduce its latest and most-awaited smart home display later this year, with the device reported to aim for release around the rollout of iOS 27. The product has already been completed internally, but its unveiling has been delayed due to the pending rollout of Apple’s upgraded Siri features.
They have planned to release the device earlier this year along with the updated Siri. The timeline shifted after the Siri update did not arrive as expected. It has now been stated to be aiming to unveil around September, when the latest Siri capabilities are expected to be ready.
The device resembles a square iPad-style display that can be either attached to a speaker base or mounted on the wall. But in some earlier reports, they have suggested that the screen might be a 7-inch LCD panel, and it might feature a magnetic wall-mounting system similar to the MagSafe.
The interface the device will run will likely feature circular application icons arranged in a layout similar to the Apple Watch home screen. The device might run on the latest homeOS interface that will include widgets and layouts similar to the iPhone’s StandBy mode.
An upgraded AI-powered Siri is expected to play a crucial role in how users interact with the device, by allowing the voice commands for navigation, automation, and smart home controls. The device is now expected to function as a central control hub for smart home devices and services.
This upcoming smart home display is expected to feature a built-in camera for FaceTime and a facial recognition system capable of identifying the users when they approach the display. The system could show personalized information such as calendar events, reminders, notes, music preferences, and news updates.
