Android Developers must verify identity to publish apps beyond Play Store

New Delhi: Google has recently introduce any much important thing especially for the app developers, such latest requirements, which app developers needed to fulfil them, that are from the beginning of September 2026, the app developers who are publishing their application outside the Play Store, they needed first to verify their identity, there will be an verification process they need to continue their publishing. This feature and this requirement are essential for them to distribute their applications.

Google has aimed to provide this feature because their applications could be much safer from some of the fraud and malware, which can badly affect the applications which they are publishing outside the Play Store. The early access program will be open for developers in October, ahead of the wider rollout in March 2026, before the requirements are kicked off. App developers who are distributing their application outside the Play Store will use the latest Android Developer Console, where they can first verify their identity.

Google also stated that the latest requirements will increase the accountability for the developers while they are enhancing the user protection against fraud and malware. Android devices that come preloaded with the Android Services, the Play Store, and Play Services will be able to block applications from the developers who have not verified their identity, and this is a good thing that they have introduced for the app developers.
