New Delhi: Amazon has introduced its new AI-driven voice assistant, ‘Alexa+’, in India. Indian users have interacted with Alexa 9 billion times in a year, revealing much of its popularity, the company stated.
Latest version is now much “smarter” than the earlier one. Users don’t have to say “Alexa” again to get the next response, or to switch to a different topic. It comprehends English, Hindi and Hinglish words and even the ability to switch between these languages mid-sentence. Alexa+ can also remember user preferences favourite restaurants, routines and music selections, and recognise family members by voice and face.
Even everyday tasks can be taken care of with Alexa+! Can play music, suggest movies, manage calendar, read and respond to emails and answer questions on topics such as cricket or history. Billboards and related documents can also be uploaded to the user’s device, with the user later asking questions about the document to Alexa.
Alexa+ is able to interpret natural requests such as “it’s dark” commands that can switch on your home lights without having to mention the particular device. It’s also good for shopping on Amazon, allowing users to compare products, track their deliveries and create shopping lists by talking about them.
Alexa+ was developed specifically for India, the teams working here have also made it more responsive to Indian accents and phrases like “arrey” or “theek hai,” Amazon said.
The early access time for Alexa+ is free. Following that, it will be available to Prime members free of cost, and Rs. for other users. Subscription is $2000 per month.
