Sora AI users face new limits as OpenAI moves to paid video model

New Delhi: OpenAI is now going to start charging users to create extra videos on its popular AI-generation application, Sora AI model. Sora chief Bill Peebles has announced recently on the X platform that this change has come into effect for all users who exceed the free daily limit. Additionally, the company will reduce the free limit in the future when more users join the platform. Users can pay $4, which is roughly around Rs 350, for 10 additional video generations when they exceed the daily limit. Users wanted to buy as many additional tokens as they needed in a day.

Bill Peebles also claims that this change will allow pro creators to get as much usage as they want to pay for. Bill Peebles states that the daily limit is set at 100 video generations for the ChatGPT Pro users. For all other users, including those on the free plan, the limit is set at 30 videos a day. However, OpenAI is planning on reducing the free limit soon. Bill Peebles wrote that they will need to bring the free generation down to accommodate growth. The Sora chief claimed that the company would run out of the GPUs if it continues with the current limit, as more people join the platform.

OpenAI is now going to change users for creating AI videos; the company is planning to develop a new Sora economy meant to provide a way for creators on the platform to earn money. Bill Peebles teased that in the future, users may be able to charge others for using Cameos of characters and people. The Cameo mode enables users to generate videos, including other people who have agreed to feature in cameo videos and cameo appearances. This feature will prioritise early users of the Sora applications initially. Bill Peebles stated that they will soon pilot monetisation, prioritising people and companies who got onto the platform early.
