New Delhi: Reddit’s CEO Steve Huffman, has recently shared their interest in expanding the website into an official Reddit search engine, as the demand for human-written answers is increasing amid the abundance of AI-generated content. Steve Huffman has stated that the Reddit’s second quarter earnings report states that the company is concentrating its resources on the areas that will drive results for its most pressing needs, which also involves making Reddit a go-to search engine.
As per the results, this platform is expanding its AI (Artificial Intelligence) search tool called Reddit Answers globally to more regions. This platform celebrated its 20th anniversary last month, and now, they have plans to deeply integrate Reddit Answers into the general experience by expanding Reddit as a search engine from the real people these days.
Google is taking blue links out of the question, serving answers through the AI Overviews and the latest AI Mode. But the Reddit building its own search could hurt the traffic the service gets from Google, according to the earnings reports of Reddit, the platform sees 416.5 million weekly active unique users, and a good chunk of it is coming from Google.
So, going against the search giant doesn’t sound like a wise decision, but it can be a good alternative to offer if Google ever becomes too diluted with Artificial Intelligence to be considered unreliable. What will users think about Reddit’s search engine? That Reddit can actually be the rival of Google, now this question will come to the minds of many people, but it is actually known when Reddit will introduce their own search engine, then the answer will get to people, so let’s wait for the next update from Reddit.
