New Delhi: OpenAI’s AI video generation application, which is now most popular among users, is the Sora AI video generation application. You might have seen some of the videos on Instagram reels where they have generated pretty cool and clear videos. But since its release a few weeks ago, the application topped the charts on Apple App Store in the US and Canada, with users getting creative with their videos, while there have been a few issues related to the cameos in the past, OpenAI is planning to bring more functionality to the application soon.
Sora Chief Bill Peebles has posted an update roadmap on the X official account; the primary focus of the latest update is bringing someone into their AI-generative video. Cameos were restricted to the humans who had consented to be included in these features. In addition, users can also add cameos of characters generated by Sora in any of their previously uploaded videos. The Sora UI will also get a latest look with the dedicated section for trending cameos. OpenAI’s last update for Cameos added more control to users who have opted in for the feature, enabling them to restrict how they appear in AI videos created by others.
sora roadmap update: in the spirit of building this app openly, here’s what we’re landing soon.
first, more creation tools. character cameos are coming in the next few days: you’ll be able to cameo your dog, guinea pig, favorite stuffed toy, and pretty much anything else you… pic.twitter.com/GX7CJXWRcZ

Another significant change will be the option to edit the videos users created on Sora, according to Bill Peebles. OpenAI is adding basic video editing capabilities for now. This will include the option to combine multiple clips. However, he has teased that more powerful features will be added in a later update. Sora is now limited to the global feed that showcases trending content throughout the platform. OpenAI is working on adding a latest communities tab, enabling users to better interact with their friends or close ones. These channels may be specific to users’ university, company, sports club, and much more, but it is still unclear whether these channels will be similar to communities on other social media applications like X and Threads.
But there is one more catch we need to know, which is a major complaint from the users who used this Sora: the high rate of moderation, while moderation is necessary for the AI-generated videos to address privacy concerns. The platform will soon have less moderation for the users’ better experience. Chief of Sora Bill Peebles confirmed that OpenAI will soon release Sora on Android, but he did not reveal any information on when the application will be rolled out globally.
