New Delhi: A significant enhancement to the ChatGPT voice experience, OpenAI introduces a new family of voice AI models, dubbed GPT-Live. The new models will be faster and more efficient, enabling ChatGPT to listen and speak simultaneously, rather than waiting for humans to stop talking before it responds. The company has launched two versions of the new model: GPT-Live-1 and GPT-Live-1 mini. GPT-Live-1 is now available with Go, Plus, and Pro subscribers, with a new version of GPT-Live-1 mini available for free users. The update has been made available throughout the world on ChatGPT for Web, Android, and iOS.
In addition to the previous voice control, GPT-Live allows the user to continue the conversation in full-duplex when the AI replies, and interrupt the AI in a natural way that it will seamlessly accept. The model may also be able to give minimal verbal comments such as “mm-hmm” or “got it” to make the individual feel as if he is talking to another person. One of the other noteworthy enhancements is the fact that ChatGPT can keep talking as you do other things in the background. For instance, answerable without halting the dialogue, such as searching the web, checking information, and undertaking more advanced thinking. This makes it easier for speech-enabled users.
Additionally, OpenAI demonstrated GPT-Live’s capability to provide live language translation when discussing language translation with the user. The new technology aims to make AI assistants more beneficial in everyday cases, whether someone is inquiring about a question, planning a vacation, or conversing with individuals who speak other languages. With the rollout of GPT-Live, OpenAI has joined the current round of AI communication software products, joining earlier releases of audio models by developers and emphasizing its commitment to building real-time AI communication tools. The upgrade follows a continued rise in competition in the AI world, as companies seek to make their voice assistants more human and responsive.
OpenAI’s vision for GPT-Live is to enable users to sound more human and have more natural dialogues with ChatGPT. The new voice models bring yet more to the table in the effort to develop faster, smarter, and more capable AI systems to interact with more routinely.
