New Delhi: After debuting the very first API for developer use of text-to-speech technology this week, OpenAI has just announced its newest physical product: Codex Micro, and it’s meant for developers. The company has concentrated its attention on developing a device meant for developers that aids them in developing fast with its AI coding platform Codex, as opposed to releasing a device for the general public.
The Codex Micro is produced in collaboration with Work Louder, a keyboard maker. It’s a small programmable macropad that provides instant access to AI coding tools via physical buttons, joystick, dial controls, and touch function. The sole purpose of the device is to streamline the management of several AI coding tasks, rather than having to switch apps or browser tabs.

The highlight of the Codex Micro is its 6 programmable mechanical keys, which display a variety of AI tasks. Some keys glow a different color to indicate if a coding task is running, successful, or if there is an error in the code. This enables the developer to keep an eye on a number of AI agents simultaneously at a glance.
Shortcut buttons have also been added for common functions to accept AI-generated code changes or decline them. These controls can be configured by the user of a ChatGPT desktop application. In the meantime, the inbuilt joystick as well as dial could be used to navigate between tasks, while additionally allowing for coding issue resolution using different quantities of reasoning by the AI.
