Microsoft doubles down on AI with Copilot+ PCs and Windows 11 features

New Delhi: Microsoft is finally rolling out their latest AI features to their Windows 11 PCs, and with the running version of 24H2 in the stable channel. This latest KB5062660 update brings AI features such as the Windows Setting AI agent, Copilot Vision, improved Click to Do, Relight features in the Photos application and more. All these latest Windows AI features were announced earlier and tested for quite some time in the Insider channels. Finally, latest AI experiences are rolling out broadly to general users.

Copilot Vision is currently rolling out in the United States. It will be available on all Windows 11 PCs, not just Copilot+ PCs. Users can share their whole screen with Copilot Vision and get on-screen assistance in real-time. Users can set the PC language to English to begin using it immediately. It doesn’t require a Copilot Pro subscription. The AI agent in Windows Settings is now available on Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs in the stable channel. It allows you to change Windows Settings or fix nagging issues by describing the problem in natural language in the Windows Settings search box. Microsoft states in the blog post that Intel- and AMD-powered Copilot+ PCs will receive the feature at a later date.

Additionally, an upgraded Click to Do functionality is also being introduced to Copilot+ PCs. Users receive the latest contextual options, including Draft with the Copilot in Word, MS Teams actions, Practice in Reading Coach, and Read with the Immersive Reader. Click to Do is somewhat like Google’s Circle to Search tool, which analyses the visual screen and offers contextual options to perform actions while keeping users in the flow.

Moreover, the Photos application on Copilot+ PCs can relight photos using presets like Studio Portrait and Cinematic Glow, or users can adjust the sliders. Additionally, the Paint app gets a Sticker Generator and the smart object selection features. Sticker Generator utilises AI to generate custom stickers based on a text prompt. The smart object selection feature utilises AI to isolate individual elements and make further edits within an image.

Microsoft is also rolling out the Quick Machine Recovery to Windows 11 with this update. It can automatically fix widespread boot failure issues via the internet. All these AI features are going live, starting today in the stable channel. However, Microsoft also states that the rollout will be gradual, and it may take up to a month for the features to become available. If users want to access the AI features early, ensure that the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle in Windows Update settings is enabled, and then install the KB5062660 update. After that, update all the applications through the Microsoft Store.
