New Delhi: OpenAI has introduced its artificial intelligence agent for its popular chatbot, ChatGPT, around the world on Thursday, which can complete complex tasks as the Microsoft-backed startup looks to get ahead of the competitors in the AI race. These AI agents are considered to be an evolution of an assistant and have been embraced across the technology world, with large firms, including Microsoft, Salesforce, and Oracle, spending billions on the technology to boost productivity and make operations more cost-efficient.

This OpenAI agent will combine aspects of its previous agentic features, and the operators, which can interact with the websites, and conduct deep research for multi-step tasks for the users.
Starting on Thursday, the users of ChatGPT’s Pro, Plus and Team tiers can activate the chatbot’s agentic capabilities. The ChatGPT agent can complete tasks such as ordering an outfit for a wedding while taking into account factors like dress code and weather.
The chatbot accomplishes this by utilising its own virtual computer, equipped with various tools that enable interaction with the web. It also allows the users to connect applications such as Gmail and GitHub so ChatGPT can find information relevant to a prompt. This AI agent is capable of enhancing ChatGPT’s usefulness in both everyday and professional contexts. At work, users can automate repetitive tasks, like converting screenshots or dashboards into presentations composed of editable vector elements.
The user can activate ChatGPT’s new agentic capabilities directly through the tools dropdown from the composer by selecting agent mode at any point in any conversation. Simply describe users’ desired task, whether it’s conducting deep research, creating a slideshow, or submitting expenses. As it performs, users’ tasks and an on-screen narration provide visibility into exactly what ChatGPT is doing. The user can interrupt and take control of the browser at any time, ensuring tasks remain aligned with their goals.
