New Delhi: MakeMyTrip has recently introduced a latest AI-powered semantic search feature that is going to enable users to find hotels and homestays using natural language queries. The update is part of the company’s broader AI innovation efforts aimed at improving the booking experience. This feature enables travellers to search using phrases. Instead of relying on multiple filters, users can describe their preferences directly, and the system interprets the intent behind the query to provide relevant results.
The search results include contextual information such as images, AI-curated content from users’ reviews, and personalised rankings. It also provides AI-generated innovative suggestions for the commonly searched categories like the beachfront hotels in Goa or the Ooty stays with the mountain views, with the tags indicating features such as great for families or private pools available. Our goal is to make travel planning as natural as conversation, with the AI search within the stay booking experience, they are simplifying one of the most essential parts of the traveller journey, finding the right stay.
Instead of focusing users to think like a system, they built a system that understands how people naturally express themselves. The company also recently launched the Beta version of the Myra, its generative AI-based trip planning assistant. Myra is designed to assist with destination discovery, bookings, and in-trip support through both voice and text in English and Hindi, with plans to expand to additional Indian languages.
