New Delhi: Google has officially started rolling out a fresh set of upgrades to the Google Home application, by adding the latest automation triggers, expanded Nest lock controls, and improvements to its Gemini-powered voice assistant. The changes are going to be released in phases, with some of the features limited to early access or gradual rollouts.
Google is also now upgrading Gemini for Home, with several improvements in accuracy and targeting. It can now updates commands like turn off all lights now apply only to the current home for users with multiple homes. Room-specific requests, such as turning off the kitchen, now affect only the lights in that room.
Devices with unique names, such as Table Glow, are now categorized correctly based on the manufacturer metadata and include broader light-related commands. Gemini now uses the home address set in the Google Home application for queries such as weather and local news. Improved reliability for notes, lists, reminders, calendars, timers, and alarms.
Updated to more of the recent Gemini models for the more improved responses to informational queries. Reduced instances of the users being cut off mid-command during live conversations.
More reliable triggering of the user-created automations through voice commands improved playback reliability for newly released songs. Google has also added support for additional automation starters and conditions inside the Google Home application’s automation editor.
These are currently limited to the applications and are not supported via Ask Home or the Help me create tool. Support for the Nest x Yale Lock is now moving from Public Preview to general availability, with gradual rollout underway.
For the subscribers to the advanced Google Home Premium plan, Google has also unveiled the Live Search feature for the camera streams. The users could search only past recorded events. This latest update enables them to check the current state of their home through live camera feeds.
