New Delhi: Google has officially unveiled its latest upgrade for its Gemini, which lets users generate complete downloadable files directly within the application, including PDFs and various other file formats. This feature will remove the need to copy and paste content into other tools or manually format documents.
Gemini can now convert a simple prompt into ready-to-use outputs, by including PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, and much more.
Behind this upgrade is the removal of the extra steps that usually come after brainstorming with AI. Users have to copy text from the chat, paste it into applications like Word and Excel, and then format it properly. Gemini now handles that process itself; users can ask it to create a structured document, and it will generate the file that is already formatted and ready to download or share.
This feature also supports a wide range of formats, which will include Google Workspace files such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides, alongside common file types like PDF, DOCX, XLSX, and CSV. It is also going to work with more specialized formats like LaTeX, Markdown, Rich Text Format, and plain text.
Once it is created, users can either download the file to their device or export it directly to Google Drive. Users can also upload their lecture notes and ask Gemini to generate a detailed study guide in PDF format, complete with visuals, graphs, and equations.
It also extends its existing personalization and chat transfer tools to more regions. Memories, which enable the Gemini to remember important details and preferences that the users have previously shared, as well as a chat history import tool that will add the ability to import chats from other AI applications, are now rolling out in the UK and other European countries.
