Google AI supercharges shopping with new visual search feature

New Delhi: Google has recently unveiled its latest AI Mode search features, which now support conversational visual searchers, enabling users to shop using natural language descriptions and reference images instead of traditional filters. This update is going to roll out this week in the United States for users in the English language, enabling people to describe products in the way users talk to friends. Users can now search for the items using vague descriptions, such as the barrel jeans that aren’t too baggy, and it will refine results with the follow-up requests.

The latest features leverage Google’s Visual search fan-out technique, which runs on multiple queries in the background to understand subtle details and secondary objects in images, which is built on Gemini 2.5 advanced multimodal capabilities and Google’s Shopping Graph of over 50 billion product listings. AI Mode can now recognise advanced visual context and deliver more relevant results. Users can initiate searches by uploading reference images, snapping photographs, or combining images with text descriptions. The system provides shoppable options with direct links to retailers’ websites, complete with reviews, deals, and availability information.

The visual search upgrade works for general exploration, including interior design inspiration on mobile devices, where users can create within specific images and ask conversational follow-up questions. Google cautions that the rollout may take several days to reach all users. The update represents the latest enhancement since the AI mode became available to all users in March. And it is going to be available in India, and the users will be impressed by these features.
