New Delhi: Anthropic has recently extended its access to the key Claude feature that will connect the AI to Microsoft applications. Microsoft 365 connector is now available across all of the Claude plans, including the free tier.
Anthropic stated that users can connect Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint to bring emails, documents, and files directly into the conversations. It is limited to Team and Enterprise plans. The feature lets users access and analyze their data without manually uploading files.
Microsoft 365 connector enables Claude to connect with applications like Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive. This generally means Claude can search, read, and analyze data directly from these services.
Rather than uploading documents or copying text, the users can let Claude pull information such as emails, meeting transcripts, and stored files in real-time. This actually helps the AI to understand context better and assist with the tasks more efficiently.
The connector currently offers read-only access. The Claude can view and analyze information but cannot make changes. Claude cannot send emails, schedule meetings, create documents, or post messages on behalf of the users. Setting up the connector depends on the type of Claude plan.
One key requirement is that the users must sign in with a Microsoft 365 account linked to a Microsoft Entra tenant. Microsoft Entra Administrator must first approve the access for the organization. After that, the users can connect their account via the Connector section in Claude settings.
For the Team and Enterprise plans, the Workspace Owners need to allow the connector from the organization settings. Once the admin approval is complete, the individual users can activate it from their own settings.
