New Delhi: Just like Google, OpenAI is also giving more to its ChatGPT to be more productive for the daily users, who make the ChatGPT a habit in their lifestyle, so for them, OpenAI has recently rolled out the latest Pro-tier features, called ChatGPT Pulse, which promises to wake users with curated insights tailored to their lifestyle. Pulse proactively searches in the background, and it drops a fresh set of updates every morning. Users can think of it as a smart newspaper just for them. OpenAI notes that this is the first step toward a more helpful anticipatory ChatGPT.

The usual reactive style of ChatGPT, where it waits for the users to give it a prompt, Pulse takes initiative. OpenAI also stated that each night, it synthesises information from its memory, chat history, and direct feedback to learn what’s most relevant to the users, then it delivers personalised, focused updates the next day. These could look like the following: follow-up on the topics that users often discuss, ideas for a quick, healthy dinner to make at home that evening, or the next steps toward a longer-term goal such as training for a triathlon.
The kinds of updates users might see range from reminders about the upcoming events, follow-ups on the topics users have to discuss, meal ideas, travel suggestions, or even next steps towards a long-term goal. It is a personalised digest, tailored just for the users. The fundamental distinction between ChatGPT and ChatGPT Pulse lies in initiative; regular ChatGPT is reactive; it sits quietly until the user’s question or prompts before springing into action. On the other hand, ChatGPT Pulse flips that the model on its head; it proactively prepares insights for the users, delivering a daily digest of tailored updates without the users lifting a finger. But this proactive power highlights the elephant in the room, privacy. OpenAI insists that the feature’s clear-cut guideline is to dig into the users’ details with the explicit permission, but the process is straightforward. Once granted access, the AI can scan through their chats, calendars, emails, and potentially much more.
