Amazon expands Alexa to web browsers to compete with AI chatbots

New Delhi: Amazon officially made an announcement that its AI Assistant Alexa+ is now available on the web through its latest Alexa.com website. This rollout extends access to all Alexa+ Early Access customers, enabling them to interact with the assistant across the voice, mobile, and now browser platforms. With this latest move, Amazon aims to give direct competition to other web-based AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini and more. Users can use the Alexa website to get quick answers, explore complex topics, create content, plan trip itineraries, and get help with homework. But Alexa+ doesn’t just provide information; it is designed to take action.

It can help the users to complete countless tasks like managing their to-do list, updating their family calendar, controlling their smart homes, making reservations, and so much more. Alexa+ has evolved rapidly since its launch nine months ago, integrating with tens of thousands of services and devices and scaling to tens of millions of customers. According to the company, usage has surged with twice the conversations, three times the purchases, and five times the recipe requests compared to earlier Alexa versions.

This latest interaction model adds a powerful way to use and collaborate with the Alexa+. Combined with the redesigned Alexa mobile application, which will feature an agent-forward design, Alexa+ will be accessible across every surface, whether users are at their desk, on the go, or at home, anywhere they can access this latest interaction model.
